State of Texas Tax Free Weekend/SalesTax Holiday ~ Aug. 9-11

NOTICE!
IMPORTANT CHANGE
State of Texas Tax Free Weekend/SalesTax Holiday
The recent passage of Senate Bill 485 (83rd Regular Legislative Session, 2013) changes the dates of  this year’s annual Sales Tax Holiday to August 9-11, a week earlier than previously scheduled. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.
This is especially important for PTAs that take advantage of this weekend to sell school supplies, spirit wear, and other items within the exempt parameters.  This way a PTA does not have to declare one of their two (2) tax-free days.  If your PTA is using this weekend be sure to coordinate with your vendors to make sure they are aware of the change.
